General System Design

This build is designed around a 32-core Threa​d​ripp​er ​79​70X processor and an RTX 4090 24GB video card.

Software Workload/Customer Need

This customer needed a powerful new workstation to handle their growing professional workload that would last a long time.

This build was designed for photogrammetry, CAD, and laser scanning, primarily used in DJI Terra. Over time, this machine (and future orders) would be passed on to new employees.

This build was influenced by our Threadripper 7000 Photogrammetry Workstation.

Design Rationale

  • The Threa​d​ripp​er ​79​70X gave the customer a great amount of single-core performance for lightly-threaded workloads and multicore performance for heavily-threaded tasks.
  • To ensure the CPU runs at full speed, liquid cooling with a 360mm liquid cooler is recommended.
  • The customer wanted a stable motherboard with a good amount of desktop functionality, and an upgrade path.
  • The customer was fine with our default memory, 384GB was an easy upgrade.
  • The customer was fine with our default storage setup.
  • The customer preferred the RTX 4090 for maximum general-purpose GPU compute, and a large amount of VRAM.
  • The overall design of the build meant that a 1500W power supply was recommended.
  • We used one of our full-tower cases to fit the build.
  • We used our high-end RGB fans to ensure proper airflow and static pressure, while giving the customer a bit of color as requested.
