CMMC FIPS Backup is a storage server, designed around a 6-core Ryzen 5 9600X processor.

General System Design

This build is designed around a 6-core Ryzen 5 9600X processor.

Software Workload/Customer Need

This customer needed a set of 2 rackmount data storage servers that would last a long time.

This machine is designed to work in the FIPS 140-3 standard, allowing the business to be CMMC compliant.

This build was ordered with CMMC FIPS Main by our cybersecurity partner, Petronella Technology Group. Petronella has also purchased Petronella X1.

Design Rationale

  • The Ryzen 5 9600X gave the customer a high amount of single-core performance for most tasks in this particular situation, and can be easily upgraded.
  • To ensure the CPU runs at full speed under stock operation, air cooling was recommended.
  • The customer wanted a stable motherboard with a good amount of functionality and 10G networking.
  • The customer requested 64GB of memory.
  • After much discussion, the customer requested 2x1TB RAID 1 NVME for OS, and 2x2TB RAID1 NVME for main storage.
  • The overall design of the build meant that a 750W power supply was recommended.
  • We used a 4U rackmount chassis to fit the build.
