This build is designed around a 24-core Core Ultra 9 285K processor and an RTX 5090 32GB video card.

Software Workload/Customer Need

This customer needed a new workstation to handle their growing professional workload that would last a long time.

This system is designed for laser scanning and photogrammetry in DJI Terra.

This build is based on our Core Ultra 9 Laser Scanning Workstation.

Design Rationale

  • The Core Ultra 9 285K gave the customer a great amount of single-core performance for lightly-threaded workloads, and multicore performance for heavily-threaded tasks. It also works very well across all applications.
  • To ensure the CPU runs at full speed, liquid cooling with a 360mm liquid cooler is recommended.
  • The customer wanted a stable motherboard with a good amount of desktop functionality.
  • The customer agreed with our standpoint on 256GB of RAM.
  • The customer was mostly fine with our storage recommendation, adding a 30TB HDD for large bulk storage.
  • The overall design of the build meant that a 1500W power supply was recommended.
  • We used our bigger mid-tower case to fit the build.
