This build is designed around a 16-core Ryzen 9 9950X processor and an RTX 2000 ADA 16GB video card.

Software Workload/Customer Need

This customer needed a powerful new workstation to handle their growing professional workload that would last a long time.

This build was designed for Solidworks and Rhino.

This build was influenced by our Ryzen 9 Rhino Workstation.

Design Rationale

  • The Ryzen 9 9950X gave the customer a great amount of single-core performance for general use, and multicore performance for heavily-threaded tasks. It is also faster in the applications than the Core Ultra 9, and recently supports high memory better.
  • To ensure the CPU runs at full speed, liquid cooling with a 360mm cooler is recommended.
  • The customer wanted a stable motherboard with a good amount of desktop functionality.
  • The customer agreed with our recommended memory setup.
  • The customer was mostly fine with our recommended storage setup, giving him lots of room for large files, and speeding up SolidWorks boot time.
  • We recommended the RTX 2000 ADA 16GB to be compatible with SolidWorks.
  • We recommended a 1200W power supply based on the design of the build, and give room for a higher-end GPU.
  • We used our regular mid-tower case for solid airflow and minimalistic design.
