Software Workload/Customer Need

This customer was looking for a new powerful gaming computer that would last a long time and be easily upgraded over time. This build was also designed for game development.

This build influenced Mingan.

Design Rationale

  • The i7-6700K gave the customer a good amount of single-core performance for gaming, and multicore performance for heavily-threaded tasks.
  • To ensure the CPU runs at full speed, air cooling with at least a dual-tower cooler is recommended. The customer preferred liquid cooling for performance and visual appeal.
  • The customer wanted a stable motherboard with a good amount of desktop functionality.
  • The customer wanted at least 16GB of RAM, with RGB for visual appeal.
  • The customer was mostly fine with our default storage setup, only upgrading the boot drive to NVME.
  • For solid gaming performance, we recommended the GTX 1060.
  • The overall design of the build meant that a 650W power supply was recommended.
  • We used a special mid-tower case to fit the build.
  • We used our high-end fans to ensure proper airflow and static pressure, RGB was requested for visual appeal.
