This build is designed around a 4-core i5-7600K processor and a GTX 1070 8GB video card.

Software Workload/Customer Need

This customer was looking for a new powerful 1080p gaming computer that would last a long time and be easily upgraded over time.

This build influenced Fox 3 and was influenced by Sanic.

Design Rationale

  • The i5-7600K gave the customer a great amount of single-core performance for gaming, and multicore performance for heavily-threaded tasks.
  • To ensure the CPU runs at full speed, air cooling with a single-tower cooler was recommended.
  • The customer wanted a stable motherboard with a good amount of desktop functionality.
  • The customer wanted at least 16GB of RAM, 32GB was an easy upgrade.
  • The customer was mostly fine with our default storage setup, only downgrading the boot drive to 256GB.
  • The customer was fine with our recommended video card
  • The overall design of the build meant that a 650W power supply was recommended.
  • We used a mid-tower case to fit the build.
