This build is designed around a 24-core Core Ultra 9 285K processor and an RTX 5080 16GB video card.

Software Workload/Customer Need

This customer needed a new workstation to handle their growing professional workload that would last a long time.

This system is designed for LiDAR processing, photogrammetry, mapping, and CAD in ScanLook, YellowScan CloudStation, Trimble Business Center, Global Mapper, QGIS, and Civil 3D.

This build is based on our Core Ultra 9 Photogrammetry Workstation.

Design Rationale

  • The Core Ultra 9 285K gave the customer a great amount of single-core performance for lightly-threaded workloads, and multicore performance for heavily-threaded tasks. It also works very well across all applications.
  • To ensure the CPU runs at full speed, liquid cooling with a 360mm liquid cooler is recommended.
  • The customer wanted a stable motherboard with a good amount of desktop functionality.
  • The customer agreed with our recommendation for 128GB of RAM.
  • The customer was fine with our storage recommendation.
  • The overall design of the build meant that a 1200W power supply was recommended.
  • We used our bigger mid-tower case to fit the build.
