Design Rationale

  • The Ryzen 7 3800X gave the customer a good amount of single-core performance for gaming, and multicore performance for heavily-threaded tasks.
  • To ensure the CPU runs at full speed, air cooling with at least a single-tower cooler is recommended, dual-tower is preferred. Liquid cooling is more powerful, but not necessary.
  • The customer wanted a stable motherboard with a good amount of desktop functionality.
  • The customer wanted at least 32GB of RAM.
  • The customer was fine with a single drive storage setup.
  • The customer wanted to reuse their existing hybrid-cooled GTX 1080Ti. They were local, so this accommodation was very easy to do.
  • The overall design of the build meant that a 850W power supply was recommended.
  • We used an extended mid-tower case to fit the build.
  • We used our default fans to ensure proper airflow and static pressure.
  • The customer had a high-end network card that they wanted to reuse.

Customer Review

“I tasked Chris and the Top Flight Computers team with upgrading my ancient 1440p/144hz gaming computer, centered around a old Intel CPU and a GTX 1080Ti.

Chris collected my requirements in detail, and very professionally handled the quoting process once he designed a system suited to my requirements. Throughout the entire process, Chris and was extremely communicative and was clear on where we were in the process.

As an added bonus, he live-streamed the building of my computer so I could watch his team work, which was fun and enlightening.

Overall, my experience with Top Flight Computers was excellent, and I highly recommend reaching out to Chris if you are ready for an upgrade. You won’t regret it!”
