Software Workload/Customer Need

This customer was looking for a new 1080p gaming computer that would last a long time and be easily upgraded over time.

Design Rationale

  • The Ryzen 3 1200 gave the customer a good amount of single-core performance for gaming, and multicore performance for heavily-threaded tasks.
  • To ensure the CPU runs at full speed, air cooling with a single-tower cooler is recommended. We used the stock cooler to save money.
  • The customer wanted a stable motherboard with a good amount of desktop functionality.
  • The customer wanted at least 8GB of RAM, 16GB was an easy upgrade.
  • The customer opted for just a single HDD for storage.
  • The customer was fine with our recommended video card.
  • The overall design of the build meant that a 500W power supply was recommended.
  • We used a small mid-tower case to fit the build.
  • We used RGB fans to ensure proper airflow and static pressure.
