Software Workload/Customer Need

This customer needed a powerful new workstation to handle their growing professional workload that would last a long time. This build is designed for Autodesk Civil 3D.

Design Rationale

  • The i5-9600K gave the customer a good amount of single-core performance for modeling, and multicore performance for heavily-threaded tasks.
  • To ensure the CPU runs at full speed, air cooling with a single-tower cooler was recommended.
  • The customer wanted a stable motherboard with a good amount of desktop functionality.
  • The customer wanted at leaste 32GB of RAM, 64GB was an easy upgrade.
  • The customer was fine with a single SSD for storage.
  • The customer was fine with our recommended video card
  • The overall design of the build meant that a 550W power supply was recommended.
  • We used our default mid-tower case to fit the build.
  • We used our default fans to ensure proper airflow and static pressure.
