This build is designed around a 12-core Ryzen 9 5900X processor and an RX 6900XT 16GB video card.

Software Workload/Customer Need

This customer wanted to migrate their existing build into a new case, with a new PSU and new fans.

This build was designed for high-end gaming, graphic design, and video editing.

This customer previously purchased Smoke.

Design Rationale

  • The Ryzen 9 5900X gave the customer a great amount of single-core performance for gaming and editing, and multicore performance for heavily-threaded tasks.
  • To ensure the CPU runs at full speed, air cooling with a dual-tower cooler is recommended. The customer preferred liquid cooling for visual appeal.
  • The customer wanted a stable motherboard with a good amount of desktop functionality.
  • The customer wanted at least 32GB of RAM, 64GB was an easy upgrade.
  • The customer was mostly fine with our default storage setup, only upgrading the main drive to 2TB.
  • At the time, an RTX 3090 was both very hard to source and typically heavily gouged. The customer opted for an RX 6900XT as it performed very well in gaming and fairly well for editing.
  • The overall design of the build meant that a 850W power supply was recommended.
  • The customer requested a specific case for the build.
  • We used our default RGB case fans to ensure proper airflow and static pressure.
