Description

CMMC FIPS Main is a storage server, designed around dual 16-core EPYC 9135 processors.

General System Design

This build is designed around dual 16-core EPYC 9135 processors.

Software Workload/Customer Need

This customer needed a set of 2 rackmount enterprise storage servers that would last a long time.

This machine is designed to work in the FIPS 140-3 standard, allowing the business to be CMMC compliant.

This build was ordered with CMMC FIPS Backup by our cybersecurity partner, Petronella Technology Group. Petronella has also purchased Petronella X1.

OS Storage (SSD): 2x Micron 5400 PRO 480GB RAID1

Main Storage (HDD): 6x Seagate EXOS X24 16TB RAID6

Power Supply (PSU): Redundant FSP 1300W CRPS

Case: SilverStone RM22 2U w/ Rails

Accessories: LSI MegaRAID 9560-8i RAID Controller

Design Rationale

The dual EPYC 9135 gave the customer a high amount of single-core performance for lightly-threaded tasks in this particular situation, adequate multicore performance, and can be easily upgraded.
The customer required a motherboard with ILO/IPMI/BMC technology and 10G networking.
The customer requested 192GB of memory.
After much discussion, the customer requested 2x480GB RAID 1 SSD for OS, and 6x16TB RAID6 HDD for main storage.
We used a 2U rackmount chassis to fit the build.
