This build is designed around a 16-core Ryzen 9 7950X processor and an RTX 4080 16GB video card.

Software Workload/Customer Need

This customer needed a powerful new workstation to handle their growing professional workload that would last a long time.

This system is designed for use in Visual Studio Professional, Unreal Engine, Blender, Plasticity, Rebelle, Photoshop, WSL2, Docker, SSMS, Navicat, and gaming.

This build was influenced by our Ryzen Game Development Workstation.

Design Rationale

  • The customer preferred the Ryzen 9 7950X and it gives them a great amount of single-core performance for modeling and editing, and multicore performance for heavily-threaded tasks.
  • To ensure the CPU runs at full speed, liquid cooling with a 360mm AIO is recommended.
  • The customer wanted a stable motherboard with a good amount of desktop functionality.
  • The customer wanted 96GB of RAM, and didn’t want last-gen tech.
  • After much discussion, the customer requested a 2TB NVME for OS+programs and 4TB NVME for main storage.
  • The customer didn’t want to invest in an RTX 4090 and preferred the RTX 4080.
  • We recommended a 1200W power supply for ease of upgrading the GPU in the future.
  • We used our bigger mid-tower case to allow for ease of upgrading the GPU in the future.
  • We used a black version of our highest-performing fans to ensure proper airflow and static pressure.
