Design Rationale

  • The Threadripper 7980X gave the customer a high amount of single-core performance for editing, and near-maximum multicore performance for heavily-threaded tasks.
  • To ensure the CPU runs at full speed, and accommodate the users preference for no leak risks, we used a high-end 4U air cooler.
  • The customer wanted a stable motherboard with a good amount of desktop functionality.
  • The customer wanted to have at least 256GB of RAM, more RAM was an easy upgrade.
  • The customer needed minimal onboard storage, they also agreed to have a separate OS drive.
  • The customer agreed with our decision to use a server-grade video card for directed heat removal and long-term stability.
  • The overall design of the build meant that a 1500W power supply was recommended. This gives the user more power if they upgrade the GPU/add more.
  • We used one of our rackmount cases to fit the build.
  • We used our high-end fans to ensure proper airflow and static pressure, as well as extra fans on the RAM.

Customer Review

“Our global company needed new CPU Rendering workstations and I found Top Flight Computers in my searches.

After talking with Chris I knew it was the right choice and we have had the best experience.

It’s been a pleasure working with him on our builds, and I anticipate using Top Flight for our next custom build needs.”
