This build is designed around an i7-14700K processor and an RTX 4080 16GB video card.

Software Workload/Customer Need

This customer was looking for a set of dedicated workstations to assist with various virtual reality needs.

This order was for 6 identical PCs.

This customer also purchased Super Tower of Power, DEVR 1, DEVR 2, Accelerated Design, Tryscannosaurus Rex, Mascanodon, Triscanatops, Saber Tooth Scanner, Pterodascanyl, Dragonscanzord, Alpha 1, and MEAN CAD 1.

Design Rationale

  • The i7-14700K gave the customer a great amount of single-core performance for general use, and multicore performance for heavily-threaded tasks.
  • To ensure the CPU runs at full speed, air cooling with dual-tower cooler is recommended. The customer preferred liquid cooling with a 420mm AIO.
  • The customer wanted a stable motherboard with a good amount of desktop functionality and 10G networking.
  • The customer wanted at least 64GB of RAM.
  • The customer requested a 1TB NVME for OS and 2x4TB SSD RAID0 for main storage.
  • The customer requested an RTX 4080 for VRAM. The RTX 4090 was considered, but not needed for this particular build.
  • The overall design of the build meant that a 1200W power supply was recommended.
  • We used our bigger mid-tower case to fit the build.
  • We used our highest-end fans to ensure proper airflow and static pressure.
  • The customer requested a VR headset be included in the order.
