Dirty Durham is a high end gaming computer.

General System Design

This build is designed around a 12-core Ryzen 9 7900X processor and an RTX 4080 16GB video card.

Software Workload/Customer Need

This customer was looking for a new powerful high end gaming computer built for 4K gaming that would last a long time and be easily upgraded over time.

This build was influenced by Spectre v4, Bertha The Beast, and The Rivaderchi.

Memory: Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB 64GB DDR5-6000

Video Card (GPU): Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 16GB Founders Edition

Power Supply (PSU): be quiet! Straight Power 11 1200W

Design Rationale

  • The Ryzen 9 7900X gave the customer a great amount of single-core performance for high end gaming, and multicore performance for heavily-threaded tasks.
  • To ensure the CPU runs at full speed, liquid cooling with a 360mm AIO is recommended. The customer opted for a hard-tube custom loop for visual appeal and increased cooling power.
  • The customer wanted a stable motherboard with a good amount of desktop functionality and high speed memory support.
  • The customer wanted at least 64GB of RAM, didn’t want last-gen tech, wanted very fast memory, and wanted RGB that synced with the rest of the system.
  • We recommended a new 512GB Gen4 NVME for OS.
  • We used the existing RTX 4080 16GB.
  • The overall design of the build meant that a 1200W power supply was recommended.
  • We used a bigger mid-tower case to fit the build.
  • We used our high-end RGB fans to ensure proper airflow and static pressure.
