Design Rationale

  • The i9-9900K gave the customer a great amount of single-core performance for editing and gaming, and multicore performance for heavily-threaded tasks.
  • To ensure the CPU runs at full speed, air cooling with a dual-tower is recommended.
  • The customer wanted a stable motherboard with a good amount of desktop functionality.
  • The customer wanted at least 64GB of RAM.
  • The customer was mostly fine with our default storage setup, only adding a 2TB HDD.
  • We recommended twin RTX 2080s for gaming and rendering performance, as well as multi-monitor support. The blower design works very well for a multi-GPU build.
  • The overall design of the build meant that a 1000W power supply was recommended.
  • We used a bigger mid-tower case to fit the build.
  • We used our default fans to ensure proper airflow and static pressure.

Customer Review

“My system was 6 years old, using a lot of heavy programs like ZBrush, Maya, Marvelous Designer, Photoshop, Marmoset, Arnold, and Substance Painter. It was starting to chug on me.

Thankfully, the timing was perfect, and Chris Touchberry reached out to me and helped me build a computer that I needed. Not only for work, but for streaming as well. It’s been great, extremely efficient, and if I could eat it I’m sure it would taste like butter.

Chris listened to the problems I had and was really great at helping me through the process of everything. I work with computers but I definitely don’t know whats best to build one, and he helped immensely.

Thank you again for the Grimm workstation!”
