This build is designed around a 24-core Core Ultra 9 285K processor and an RTX 5090 32GB video card.

Software Workload/Customer Need

This customer needed a powerful new workstation to handle their growing professional workload that would last a long time.

This build was designed for 3D rendering and editing in Cinema 4D and Redshift.

This build is based on our Core Ultra 9 Visual Effects Workstation.

Design Rationale

  • The Core Ultra 9 285K gave the customer a great amount of single-core performance for editing and modeling, and multicore performance for heavily-threaded tasks. It also handles high amounts of memory better than Ryzen 9000.
  • To ensure the CPU runs at full speed, liquid cooling with a 360mm liquid cooler is recommended.
  • The customer wanted a stable motherboard with a good amount of desktop functionality and support for an external GPU.
  • The customer requested 256GB of memory, they understood that more memory would require a different build.
  • The customer was fine with our default storage setup.
  • The customer already had a machine with 4x RTX 2080Ti, so a single RTX 5090 would be more powerful, while also being easier to work with and draw less power.
  • The overall design of the build meant that a 1500W power supply was recommended. The external GPU chassis required another standalone power supply.
  • We used our bigger mid-tower case to fit the build.
