This build is designed around a 8-core Ryzen 7 7800X3D processor and an RTX 4080 16GB video card.

Software Workload/Customer Need

This customer needed a powerful new gaming computer to handle their games that would last a long time. They preferred a smaller HTPC case that would go well in a media room.

This build was designed for use in FFXIV, Baldurs Gate, Borderlands, and Rocket League.

This build was influenced by our 4K/144hz Gaming Computer.

Design Rationale

  • The Ryzen 7 7800X3D gave the customer a great amount of single-core performance for lightly-threaded workloads, and multicore performance for heavily-threaded tasks.
  • To ensure the CPU runs at full speed, air cooling with a dual-tower cooler is recommended.
  • The customer wanted a stable motherboard with a good amount of desktop functionality.
  • We recommended 32GB RAM for the particular workflow, 64GB+ is an easy upgrade for the customer to handle.
  • The customer agreed with our dual-drive storage recommendation, opting for a bigger main storage drive.
  • We recommended an RTX 4080 Super for their TV.
  • We recommended a 1000W power supply based on the overall design of the build.
  • We used a special HTPC case to fit the build.
  • We used our high-end black fans to ensure proper airflow and static pressure.
