This build is designed around a 24-core i9-14900K processor and an RTX 4080 16GB video card.

Software Workload/Customer Need

This customer needed a powerful new workstation to handle their growing professional workload that would last a long time.

This build was designed for use in AutoCAD, Navisworks, Build, Adobe Creative Cloud, Revit, and Bluebeam.

This build was influenced by our i9 CAD Workstation.

Motherboard: Gigabyte Z790 AORUS ELITE AX

Memory: Kingston F​ury Beast 2x32GB ​DDR5-5600

Video Card (GPU): MSI GeForce RTX 4080 16GB GAMING X TRIO

Design Rationale

  • The i9-14900K gave the customer a great amount of single-core performance for lightly-threaded workloads, and multicore performance for heavily-threaded tasks.
  • To ensure the CPU runs at full speed, liquid cooling with a 360mm liquid cooler is recommended.
  • The customer wanted a stable motherboard with a good amount of desktop functionality.
  • The customer requested 64GB RAM, with room to add more.
  • The customer requested a single 2TB NVME for overall storage.
  • While the customer originally requested an RTX 4070Ti, they ultimately decided on an RTX 4080 for extra power for future.
  • While the overall design of the build didn’t require a 1200W power supply, we recommended one for future expansion.
  • We used our bigger mid-tower case to fit the build.
  • We used our highest-end fans to ensure proper airflow and static pressure.
