This build is designed around a 16-core Ryzen 9 9950X3D processor and an RTX 5090 32GB video card.

Software Workload/Customer Need

This customer needed a powerful new workstation that would last a long time.

This build is their first local machine for AI model design and prompt engineering.

This workstation is similar to our Ryzen 9 AI Inference 32B Workstation.

Design Rationale

  • The Ryzen 9 9950X3D gives the customer a great amount of single-core performance for editing and modeling, and multicore performance for heavily-threaded tasks.
  • To ensure the CPU runs at full speed, liquid cooling with a 360mm liquid cooler is recommended.
  • The customer wanted a stable motherboard with a good amount of desktop functionality.
  • The customer agreed with our recommendation for memory. 256GB RAM was very expensive at time of purchase
  • The customer ended up opting for a single 8TB Gen5 NVME for overall storage.
  • The customer is using their existing RTX 5090 32GB video card.
  • We recommended a 1500W power supply based on the overall build.
  • We used our regular larger mid-tower case to fit the build.
