Design Rationale

  • The Xeon w9-3475X gave the customer a great amount of single-core performance for lightly-threaded loads, and multicore performance for heavily-threaded tasks.
  • To ensure the CPU runs at full speed, liquid cooling with a 360mm liquid cooler is recommended.
  • For maximum expansion, we recommended a W790 motherboard with 16 DIMM slots and 10G networking.
  • For excellent long-term scan processing capability, we recommended 8x64GB DDR5-4800 ECC. This allows the user to load very large scans into RAM, and go up to 4TB RAM.
  • We halved the storage setup in our Xeon Extreme AEC Workstation to accommodate the budget.
  • We downgraded the GPU from an RTX 6000 ADA in our Xeon Extreme AEC Workstation to the RTX A6000. This still gives the user 48GB VRAM.
  • The overall design of the build meant that a 1200W power supply was recommended.
  • We used our bigger full-tower case to fit the build.
  • We used our highest-end fans to ensure proper airflow and static pressure.
