This build is designed around a 24-core Xeon w7-3455 and twin RTX 6000 ADA 48GB video cards.

Software Workload/Customer Need

This customer needed a set of 6 powerful new workstations to handle their growing professional workload that would last a long time.

This build was designed for processing large reality capture files in FARO scene and rendering animations and massive model assemblies in Autodesk products.

This build was purchased as a set of Tryscannosaurus Rex, Mascanodon, Triscanatops, Saber Tooth Scanner, Pterodascanyl, and Dragonscanzord.

This customer has also purchased Super Tower of Power, DEVR 1, and Accelerated Design.

This build is similar to our Xeon Extreme Laser Scanning Workstation.

Design Rationale

  • The Xeon w7-3455 gave the customer a great amount of single-core performance for lightly-threaded loads, and multicore performance for heavily-threaded tasks.
  • To ensure the CPU runs at full speed, liquid cooling with a 360mm liquid cooler is recommended.
  • The customer wanted a stable motherboard with room for 8 RAM slots, 1 NVME expander card, and 2 dual-slot GPUs. Onboard 10G networking was a plus.
  • The customer requested 512TB  of RAM, so we needed to use 8x64GB DDR5-4800 ECC. This allows the user to load very large scans into RAM, and go up to 2TB RAM.
  • The customer wanted a quad-layer storage setup; 4TB NVME RAID0 for OS+programs, 3x2TB NVME RAID0 for main storage, 3x4TB NVME RAID0 for backup storage, and 3x12TB HDD RAID5 for extended backup.
  • The customer requested twin RTX 6000 ADA 48GB video cards.
  • The customer requested a 1600W power supply.
  • We used our bigger full-tower case to fit the build.
  • We used our highest-end fans to ensure proper airflow and static pressure.
