Design Rationale

  • The Ryzen 9 5900X gave the customer a great amount of single-core performance for modeling, and multicore performance for heavily-threaded tasks.
  • To ensure the CPU runs at full speed, air cooling with a dual-tower cooler was recommended. Liquid cooling is more powerful, but wasn’t required for the CPU.
  • The customer wanted a stable motherboard with a good amount of desktop functionality.
  • The customer wanted at least 64GB of RAM. 128GB is an easy upgrade.
  • The customer wanted a 2TB NVME for main storage, and a 4TB HDD for backup storage.
  • The customer wanted lots of GPU options for testing games on different hardware, so this build and one other (i7 based) both got Quadro RTX 4000s.
  • The overall design of the build meant that a 850W power supply was recommended.
  • We used our default mid-tower case to fit the build.
  • We used our default fans to ensure proper airflow and static pressure.

Customer Review

“Chris, Andrew and Connor are absolute experts at what they do. For months I had been discussing building 8 machines through Top Flight, and I always received professional, courteous information on an industry and supply chain that is always changing.

When it finally came time to build these PCs, I was blown away with how Top Flight’s crew handled the logistics of receiving, cataloging and storing parts. Finally, when they built our computers, they streamed live! I thought that was sick, on top of having beastly machines for our game development needs.

We’re now off to the races with computers that Chris helped us part out. His choices were solid, and tailored to our specific needs. I recommend Top Flight Computers to as many friends as I can, as a fantastic custom personal computer vendor. Thank you Andrew, Connor and Chris for your hard work!”
