General System Design

This custom water cooled workstation is designed around a 12-core Ryzen 9 3900X processor and an RTX 2080Ti 11GB video card.

Software Workload/Customer Need

This customer needed a powerful new workstation to handle their growing professional workload that would last a long time. This customer was getting more into gaming and live streaming, while also doing CAD work for their firearm fabrication business.

This build influenced Tiger 437.

Design Rationale

  • The Ryzen 9 3900X gave the customer a great amount of single-core performance for gaming and editing, and multicore performance for heavily-threaded tasks.
  • We integrated a custom water loop for the CPU and GPU, using a 360mm radiator and a 240mm radiator.
  • The customer wanted a stable motherboard with a good amount of desktop functionality.
  • The customer wanted at least 64GB of RAM, 128GB was an easy upgrade.
  • The customer was mostly fine with our default storage setup, only adding 2x8TB HDD RAID1.
  • We recommended the RTX 2080Ti for gaming and streaming performance.
  • The overall design of the build meant that a 850W power supply was recommended.
  • We used a special case for the build, one that we heavily weathered to best fit the customer.
  • We used our high-end RGB fans to ensure proper airflow and static pressure.
