Design Rationale

  • The Ryzen 9 9950X3D gave the customer a great amount of single-core performance for editing and modeling, and multicore performance for heavily-threaded tasks. Core Ultra was briefly considered, however the customer preferred the Ryzen. We also looked at the non-X3D version, however the customer decided to spend a little more money.
  • To ensure the CPU runs at full speed, liquid cooling with a 360mm liquid cooler is recommended.
  • The customer wanted a stable motherboard with a good amount of desktop functionality.
  • The customer agreed with our recommendation for memory.
  • The customer was fine with our recommended storage setup.
  • We discussed the GPU quite a bit, ultimately deciding on a Radeon RX 7900 XTX 24GB for the lower price, decent compute, and high VRAM. The lower price vs Nvidia was helpful for the new business.
  • The customer opted for a higher-wattage power supply, making it easier to upgrade components (like the GPU) in the future.
  • We used our larger mid-tower case to fit the build.
