Software Workload/Customer Need

This customer was looking for a new powerful 1080p gaming computer that would last a long time and be easily upgraded over time.

This build was influenced by Exodus.

Memory: Crucial 2x4GB DDR3-1600

Design Rationale

  • The i5-4590 gave the customer a good amount of single-core performance for gaming, and multicore performance for heavily-threaded tasks.
  • To ensure the CPU runs at full speed, air cooling with a single-tower cooler is recommended. The customer preferred liquid cooling for visual appeal.
  • The customer wanted a stable motherboard with a good amount of desktop functionality.
  • The customer wanted at least 8GB of RAM, 16GB was an easy upgrade.
  • The customer was fine with our default storage setup.
  • The customer was fine with our recommended video card.
  • The overall design of the build meant that a 550W power supply was recommended.
  • We used our default mid-tower case to fit the build.
