Design Rationale

  • The Ryzen 9 9950X3D was recommended by the software OEM and gives the customer a great amount of single-core performance for editing and modeling, and multicore performance for heavily-threaded tasks. The lower power draw and heat output (vs Core Ultra) also helps this CPU in a space-constrained build.
  • To ensure the CPU runs at full speed, liquid cooling with a 360mm liquid cooler is recommended.
  • The customer wanted a stable motherboard with a good amount of desktop functionality.
  • The customer agreed with our recommendation for memory.
  • The customer ended up opting for a 2TB Gen5 NVME for OS+programs and 4TB Gen4 NVME for main storage. While they most likely don’t need this much initially, they didn’t want to run into storage issues too fast.
  • The customer agreed with our recommendation on the video card.
  • We recommended an 1000W power supply based on the overall build.
  • We recommended a smaller case that still allows for a microATX board.
