Design Rationale

  • The Core Ultra 9 285K gives the customer a great amount of single-core performance for editing and modeling, and multicore performance for heavily-threaded tasks. It also gives them better Thunderbolt support.
  • To ensure the CPU runs at full speed, liquid cooling with a 360mm liquid cooler is recommended.
  • The customer wanted a stable motherboard with a good amount of desktop functionality and robust Thunderbolt support.
  • The customer requested 64GB of memory.
  • The customer requested dual 4TB Gen4 NVME drives, and a 20TB HDD for bulk storage.
  • The customer requested a GPU with at least 32GB VRAM for their AI development. After debating an RTX 5090, they chose a model with lower power draw and lower cost.
  • We recommended a 1500W power supply based on the overall build, this gives them room to upgrade quite a bit.
  • We used our larger mid-tower case to fit the build.
