General System Design

This build is designed around a 12-core Ryzen 9 3900X processor and a GTX 1660Ti 6GB video card.

Software Workload/Customer Need

This customer wanted to move off a laptop and invest in a powerful new workstation to handle their growing professional workload. This system is designed in particular for software development, web design, coding, data science, and gaming.

This was our former tech consultants last order, now memorialized in The Johnson Process.

Design Rationale

  • The Ryzen 9 3900X gave the customer a great amount of single-core performance for design and development, and multicore performance for heavily-threaded tasks.
  • To ensure the CPU runs at full speed, air cooling with a dual-tower cooler is recommended. Liquid cooling with a 360mm AIO is better, but not needed.
  • The customer wanted a stable motherboard with a good amount of desktop functionality.
  • The customer wanted at least 64GB of RAM, 128GB was an easy upgrade.
  • The customer requested a single 1TB NVME drive.
  • We recommended the GTX 1660Ti for data science and gaming.
  • The overall design of the build meant that a 850W power supply was recommended.
  • We used our default mid-tower case to fit the build, the customer preferred a white model.
  • We used our default fans to ensure proper airflow and static pressure.

Customer Review

I wish I could make 6 out of 5 star rating!

“At Top Flight Computers they are professional, knowledgeable, and customer obsessed. They will bend over backwards to meet your needs.

I am new to the world of custom built computers and didn’t really know what I was looking for. I was able to outline my basic needs and in no time I had fantastic recommendations for my dream computer.

What I like most about the experience was the level of experience that my sales representative had. The sales representative knew all the technical details about the different components and was able to answer all my questions in detail.

The other great part about the experience was that I was able to get quotes for 4 or 5 different computer builds. I really liked that because it allowed me to get an idea of the performance I could get at different price tiers. Then I could select the rig that met my needs and my price constraints.

I wish I could get this level of service everywhere.

If you are looking for a great custom built computer from people that really know what they are doing. Then look no further than Top Flight Computers.”
