General System Design

This build is designed around a 8-core Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor and a Radeon RX 9070XT 16GB video card.

Software Workload/Customer Need

This customer wanted a powerful 4K golf simulation gaming PC that would last a long time.

This build was designed specifically for a Protee VX launch monitor and a 4K short-throw laser projector. Special attention was paid to twin ethernet ports for connection to the motion tracker, and more USB ports for various gaming devices.

This build was influenced by The Golden Computer, Resurgam, and our 4K/144hz Uneekor Golf Simulator Gaming PC.

Design Rationale

  • The Ryzen 7 9800X3D gave the customer a great amount of single-core performance for lightly-threaded workloads, and multicore performance for heavily-threaded tasks.
  • To ensure the CPU runs at full speed, and ensure that the CPU isn’t preheated by the GPU, a 240mm liquid cooler is recommended.
  • The customer wanted a stable motherboard with a good amount of desktop functionality, twin ethernet ports, and lots of  USB ports. We also picked a USB expansion card for extra ports.
  • We recommended 32GB RAM for the particular needs, more RAM is an easy upgrade for the customer to handle.
  • The customer agreed with our dual-drive storage recommendation.
  • We initially sold a RTX 5070, the customer decided to swap to an RX 9070XT to speed up the build time.
  • We recommended a 1000W power supply based on the overall design of the build.
  • We used our default larger mid-tower case to fit the parts and give solid airflow.
  • We used our high-end black fans to ensure proper airflow and static pressure.
