This build is designed around a 12-core i7-12700K processor and an RTX 3070Ti 8GB video card.

Software Workload/Customer Need

This customer needed a powerful new workstation to handle their growing professional workload. This system is designed in particular for Unreal Engine, Blender, Maya, and Steam.

This customer also purchased The Contender.

Design Rationale

  • The i7-12700K gave the customer a great amount of single-core performance for gaming and editing, and multicore performance for heavily-threaded tasks.
  • To ensure the CPU runs at full speed, air cooling with dual-tower cooler is recommended. We used a 360mm AIO because the air cooler interfered with the motherboard.
  • The customer wanted a stable motherboard with a good amount of desktop functionality.
  • The customer wanted at least 32GB of RAM, and didn’t want last-gen tech.
  • The customer was fine with our default storage setup.
  • We recommended the RTX 3070Ti for gaming and editing performance.
  • The overall design of the build meant that a 850W power supply was recommended.
  • We used our default mid-tower case to fit the build.
  • We used our default fans to ensure proper airflow and static pressure.
