This build is designed around a 24-core Core Ultra 9 285K processor and an RTX 5090 32GB video card.

Software Workload/Customer Need

This customer needed a powerful new workstation to handle their growing professional workload that would last a long time.

This build was designed for LIDAR processing and photogrammetry in Trimble Business Center and Pix4D.

This build is based on our Core Ultra 9 Laser Scanning Workstation.

Design Rationale

  • The Core Ultra 9 285K gave the customer a great amount of single-core performance for editing and modeling, and multicore performance for heavily-threaded tasks. It is also more compatible with Trimble Business Center and handles high amounts of memory better than Ryzen 9000.
  • To ensure the CPU runs at full speed, liquid cooling with a 360mm liquid cooler is recommended.
  • The customer wanted a stable motherboard with a good amount of desktop functionality and 10G networking.
  • The customer requested 256GB of memory, they understood that more memory would require a different build.
  • The customer requested a 2TB OS drive and 4TB main drive.
  • The customer ultimately chose the RTX 5090 32GB for compute, VRAM, and more cost-effective compute than RTX ADA/Pro.
  • The overall design of the build meant that a 1500W power supply was recommended.
  • We used our bigger mid-tower case to fit the build.
