This build is designed around a 36-core Xeon W9-3​475X processor and an RTX 5000 ADA 32GB video card.

Software Workload/Customer Need

This customer needed a powerful new 3D laser scanning workstation to handle their growing professional workload that would last a long time.

This build was designed for LIDAR processing, photogrammetry, and CAD. This build was designed specifically for Trimble Business Center and AutoCAD.

This build was influenced by our Xeon Extreme Laser Scanning Workstation, this customer previously purchased Thanos.

Design Rationale

  • The Xeon W9-3​4​75X gave the customer a great amount of single-core performance for lightly-threaded loads, and multicore performance for heavily-threaded tasks. This is recommended for laser scanning when you need more than an i9.
  • Liquid cooling with a 360mm liquid cooler is recommended.
  • The customer wanted a stable motherboard with a good amount of desktop functionality and 10G networking.
  • While 256GB of memory would have been fine for most of the customer needs, there were some niche projects that would benefit from 512GB. The board supports up to 2TB of RAM.
  • The customer was fine with our recommendation on storage.
  • The customer was fine with our recommendation on GPU, this allows for larger point clouds to be held in VRAM.
  • The overall design of the build meant that a 1500W power supply was recommended.
  • We used our full-tower case to fit the build, the customer requested a white version.
  • We used our highest-end fans to ensure proper airflow and static pressure.
