Design Rationale

  • The Threadripper 7960X gave the customer a great amount of single-core performance for lightly-threaded workloads and multicore performance for heavily-threaded tasks.
  • To ensure the CPU runs at full speed, liquid cooling with a 360mm liquid cooler is recommended.
  • The customer wanted a stable motherboard with a good amount of desktop functionality, and an upgrade path.
  • The customer was fine with our default memory, 384GB was an easy upgrade.
  • The customer was mostly fine with our default storage setup, only adding a 3rd 4TB NVME for backup storage.
  • The customer preferred the RTX 5090 for maximum general-purpose GPU compute, and a very large amount of VRAM.
  • The overall design of the build meant that a 1500W power supply was recommended.
  • We used one of our full-tower cases to fit the build.
  • We used our high-end fans to ensure proper airflow and static pressure.
