General System Design

This build is designed around a 56-core Xeon w9-3495X processor and twin RTX 6000 ADA 48GB video cards.

Software Workload/Customer Need

This customer needed a set of 6 powerful new workstations to handle their growing professional workload that would last a long time.

This build was designed for processing large reality capture files in FARO scene and rendering animations and massive model assemblies in Autodesk products.

This build was purchased as a set of Tryscannosaurus Rex, Mascanodon, Triscanatops, Saber Tooth Scanner, Pterodascanyl, and Dragonscanzord.

This customer has also purchased Super Tower of PowerDEVR 1, and Accelerated Design.

Design Rationale

  • The Xeon w9-3495X gave the customer a great amount of single-core performance for lightly-threaded loads, and multicore performance for heavily-threaded tasks.
  • Custom liquid cooling was installed on the CPU to keep them running as fast as possible. The customer is savvy enough to maintain the loop on their own and wishes to overclock the CPU.
  • The customer wanted a stable motherboard with room for 8 RAM slots, 1 add-in NVME expander, 2 dual-slot GPUs, and robust overclocking support. Onboard 10G networking was a plus.
  • The customer requested 256GB RAM, so we did 8x32GB DDR5-4800 ECC. This allows the user to load very large scans into RAM, and go up to 2TB RAM.
  • The customer wanted a triple-layer storage setup; 4TB NVME RAID0 for OS/programs, 3x4TB NVME RAID0 for main storage, and 3x4TB NVME RAID0 for backup storage.
  • The customer requested twin RTX 6000 ADA 48GB video cards.
  • To provide enough power for the build when overclocked, we needed to incorporate dual 1600W power supplies. The motherboard has dual 24pin headers as well.
  • We used our bigger full-tower case to fit the build.
  • We used our highest-end fans to ensure proper airflow and static pressure.
