This build is designed around a 64-core Threadripper Pro 5995WX and an RTX 4090 24GB video card.

Software Workload/Customer Need

This customer needed a powerful new workstation to handle their growing professional workload that would last a long time.

This build is designed for green screen virtual production and possible LED walls in the future.

This build was influenced by our Threadripper Pro Unreal Engine Server.

Memory: Kingston 8x16GB DDR4-3200 ECC

Design Rationale

  • The Threadripper Pro 5995WX gave the customer a great amount of single-core performance for general use, and multicore performance for heavily-threaded tasks.
  • To ensure the CPU runs at full speed, liquid cooling with a 360mm cooler is recommended.
  • The customer wanted a stable motherboard with a good amount of desktop functionality.
  • The customer wanted at least 128GB of RAM, and wanted ECC.
  • The customer wanted a 1TB NVME OS drive and 4TB NVME main storage drive.
  • The RTX 4090 worked best for the customers immediate needs, and swapping out GPUs for an RTX 6000 ADA in the future to allow for LED walls was easy to do.
  • While the overall design of the build meant that an 1200W power supply was recommended, the customer opted for a 1600W to allow for extra GPUs in the future.
  • We used our 5U server case to fit the build.
  • We used our highest-end fans to ensure proper airflow and static pressure.
