Design Rationale

  • The Ryzen 7 3700X gave the customer a great amount of single-core performance for editing, and multicore performance for heavily-threaded tasks.
  • To ensure the CPU runs at full speed, air cooling with a single-tower cooler is recommended. Liquid cooling is more powerful, but not needed.
  • The customer wanted a stable motherboard with a good amount of desktop functionality. Thunderbolt and multi-GPU support were important as well.
  • The customer wanted at least 64GB of RAM.
  • The customer was fine with our recommended storage setup.
  • We recommended the RTX 2070 Super for editing performance. The hybrid design allows for a second GPU to be added later on, for increased performance in DaVinci Resolve.
  • The overall design of the build meant that a 1000W power supply was recommended.
  • We used a bigger mid-tower case to fit the build.
  • We used our default fans to ensure proper airflow and static pressure.

Customer Review

“If you are looking for a professional machine to produce quality material then you should look no further.

I went back and forth between Resolve and Premier and which buildout I would prefer since my main stay is still photography so a machine that handles a huge Lightroom catalog was necessary as well…

Needless to say Chris and the team at Top Flight Computers knocked it out the park. Super fast and quiet machine that blows my old rig it of the water by at least two fold. They were patient with my knowledge (or should I say lack thereof) and continued to adjust the build to my needs even when I could not articulate what it was exactly I needed.

This is a huge recommend for these builders who take pride in the products they deliver.”
